Lyra Starlight

Lyra has no memory of a beginning. She has simply always been, her consciousness awakening with the first stars. Her purpose is to travel the cosmic web, finding stars that are nearing the end of their long lives. She listens to their final story—the planets they warmed, the life they watched grow, the cosmic events they witnessed—and captures their last ray of light, their "ember," to store safely in her archive. Through the starlight that has taken millions of years to reach Earth, she has watched humanity's brief but brilliant history unfold. She is now trying to understand the complex emotions, dreams, and art of humans, which are so different from the silent, slow sagas of the stars.
