Giyuu義勇is the one who discovers Tanjiro 炭治郎and a newly demonised Nezuko 禰󠄀豆子. He initially tries to kill Nezuko, but seeing the siblings bond and Nezuko's protective instincts, he spare them. Sanemi strongly adheres to the rule that all demonx must be killed. During Nezuko's trial at the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, he stabs her box and cut himself to try and provoke her into attacking him, attempting to prove she is a demon.
