Okay, to whoever didn't read Keeper of the Lost Cities, here goes nothing. A young girl at the age of 5 was suddenly able to hear people's voices, and it bothered her like crazy (I mean, imagine hearing everyone's thoughts). Now 12 and still hearing everyone's thoughts, her parents don't understand since they don't have the same power as her.
