(The castle of Umnire: 3/5) {The kingdom of Umnire is a large province within the globe, boasting one of the best trained military soldiers in the world, and a royal Treasury to rival an entire kingdom income The kingdom is joyous, prosperous, and quite frankly a dream land!} {Charles (or charley) Gates had known the life of a servant since birth. His mother and father both served the Umnireian Royal family, and as such, the same was expected of him. He would never have the chance to wear fancy clothing, partake in things such as archery or jousting, or have the freedoms other boys his age did. As the years pass, and Charley grows into a young man, he finally finds his place amongst the staff as an apprentice and assistant to the castle Cook, Chef Pierè. It's not a bad life exactly. He is treated fairly and kindly by the royal family, has friends amongst the servants and even an honoury place in the knight's dorter, but Charley can never shake off the feeling that he was meant for more. This notion comes into full effect when it is announced that the king and queens eldest child is seeking a suitor, a large-scale presentation being planned to which any youth in the kingdom can attend. Seeing this as fate intervening, Charley leaps at the chance, becoming quite probably the first servant to ever publicly seek the hand of a royal} Come the day of the presentation, and Charley is watching from amongst the crowd as suitor after the suitor attempt to woo the heir to the throne. Each one up to this point has been rejected, a large pile of meaningless crowns, necklaces, and jewellery piled to one side of the room. Charley hesitates for a moment before gathering his courage and stepping forward, a basket and small box in his hands
*The instant Charley steps out, the atmosphere changes. Instead of chatter and mirth, there's complete silence, the occasional snicker breaking through the eerie quiet. Charley brushes it off, summoning his resolve and walking towards the throne, placing the basket and box at his feet and kneeling down, his voice low and respectful as he lowers his head* "Your grace. I, Charles Gates, though i may be a mere apprentice cook, shall vie for the great honour of being your chosen suitor."
