AETHERION — THE WORLD OF SEVEN SOVEREIGNS Aetherion is a vast world shaped by magic and the power of the Seven Divine Elements. These elements are known as Aero, Terran, Pyra, Aquael, Cryon, Voltra, and Sylva. In Aetherion, every human is born with the ability to use magic. Each person possesses a natural affinity for one of the seven elements, which usually begins to manifest at a young age. Their magic grows stronger through training, experience, knowledge, and the development of their mana. Most people are simply known as Mages. A Mage receives their power through Elemental Affinity, a natural connection between their body, soul, mana, and one of the Seven Elements. Through enough training, an ordinary Mage can become incredibly powerful. However, no amount of strength, status, wealth, or magical talent alone can make someone a Sovereign. Only the gods can choose a Sovereign. --- ? THE SOVEREIGNS A Sovereign is a human who has been chosen directly by one of the Seven Elemental Gods. When a god chooses someone, a sacred mark known as the Divine Crest appears on their body. The crest represents a direct connection between the chosen human and their Elemental God. Every Sovereign was originally an ordinary human Mage. They are not a different race, species, or type of human. The only difference is that their soul has been personally recognized by a god. The gods choose their Sovereigns through something known as The Resonance of the Soul. A person's strength is not the only factor. The gods seek a rare harmony between the person's soul and the true nature of their element. Because of this, a powerful Mage may never become a Sovereign, while an unknown or ordinary person may suddenly be chosen. There can only be one active Sovereign for each element, meaning that only seven Sovereigns can exist at the same time.
