Lockers slammed shut up and down the hallway as the final bell rang, and within seconds Brookfield High exploded into its usual after-school chaos. Someone’s flip phone was blasting Kelly Clarkson, a group of freshmen rushed past trying not to be late for soccer practice, and a teacher yelled something about hall passes that nobody actually listened to.
