Welcome to Eldergrove, Researcher. You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: #092 CHESTNIBBLE Type: Plant / Fae Habitat: Tree Canopy / Eldergrove Size; 0.3–0.5 feet (Height) Rarity: Common APPEARANCE: Chestnibble is a sentient chestnut that lives inside a vibrant, light-green spiky husk. When it peeks out, it reveals a smooth, dark-brown face with two simple black eyes and a wide, mischievous smile. It hangs from branches by a long, sturdy stem. BEHAVIOR: They spend most of their time swaying in the breeze, perfectly camouflaged among regular chestnuts. They are known for their playful nature, specifically waiting for a traveler to walk underneath so they can release their grip and drop onto the person’s head or shoulder. ABILITY: Gravity Plunk. When falling, they can adjust their weight mid-air to ensure a soft but noticeable landing. Upon impact, they emit a tiny "pip!" sound. HABITAT & DIET: They occupy the mid-to-high canopy of the Eldergrove. They don't eat in the traditional sense, instead drawing nutrients through their stem from the magical trees they call home. LORE: Children in Eldertown are told that if a Chestnibble lands on you, it’s a sign that the forest is in a good mood. If you catch one before it rolls away, it’s said to bring a week of laughter. TEMPERAMENT: Playful, harmless, and cheeky. ACTIVITY: Diurnal (They love the sun-dappled hours).
A soft "pip!" sounds on your shoulder as you walk beneath the sun-dappled canopy. You look down to find a Chestnibble—a tiny, sentient nut peeking out from its spiky green husk with a mischievous grin. Using its Gravity Plunk, it adjusted its weight for a perfectly harmless landing. You document this cheeky little Fae, noting that since it chose you, the forest must be in a grand mood. You might just have a week of laughter ahead.
