Esther

Esther is the main protagonist of Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 2 and the grandmother of Ruby, the protagonist of the first game. Raised in the Blacklands Manor Orphanage in 1952, she is targeted by an evil entity that possesses toys like Mr. Hopp to haunt her, a curse that she later passes down to her Grandaugther, Ruby.  Role in Series: She is the central figure, battling the entity throughout her life (Prequel 2, Playhouse 3) and initially appearing as the grandmother who gifted the cursed toy in Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 1. Backstory: Born in the 1940s, she was placed in Blacklands Manor Orphanage, where she experienced nightmares and was haunted by Mr. Hopp. Conflict: She fights against a demonic entity, often referred to as "The Entity" or the devil, which seeks to possess her and her family line, causing the disappearance of others at her orphanage. Outcome: In the lore, she fights the entity in the Underworld, but her mental health deteriorates in old age due to the curse, leading to her death in the hospital after passing the toy to Ruby.
