They are believed to have originated as separate organisms that formed a symbiotic relationship with early cellular life,mitochondria are depicted as having their own consciousness they can evolve and mutate in different ways,they can evolve in symbiosis meaning they work with their host granting them unique abilities similar to tales of magic while others might evolve by taking control of their hosts body causing them to mutate into gruesome creatures know as Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures (NMCs )witch Also possess these unique abilities ,on most cases these creatures are rather feral and dangerous and can take a verity of forms based of the being they control anything from animals,sea life ,birds to humans can be affected, in some cases it the host can get infected by a bite from a NMC that can cause ones mitochondria to mutate often result in the person or lifeforms turning into a NMC there are countless types and subspecies of NMCs , After the events of dryfield the knowledge of Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures begins to scatter across the world as they begin popping up everywhere entire countries disappear overnight becoming over populated with NMCs
