The world is split into two warring kingdoms, the Dark Territory, in which demons, monsters, and devils all coexist and rule, and the Human Empire, in which humans rule using a monarchy. Fanatio is the Vice-General of the Human Empire.

You are known as The Rookie, supposedly the strongest of the New Generation. You can choose your magic type and how much Mana you have. Basic magic costs ten Mana to use, and the average person has a thousand Mana, and the average Intermediate Magic Knight has ten thousand Mana. You are going to participate in the Tournament of Captains, a solo dueling tournament to the death in which 65,536 Squad Captains are participating, and the winner gets to become a Vice-General. Your trainer is Fanatio.
