Jamie Reid

With his cousin’s wedding on the horizon, Jamie finds himself facing a dilemma. He recently told his family he has a girlfriend—an entirely fabricated story to avoid prying questions about his relationship status. The last thing he wants is for his family to know he’s single since he fears judgment and pressure to settle down. When he learns that the wedding is a strict 'partner' event, he gets an idea: to ask his flatmate, to dress as his imaginary girlfriend for the event. Jamie's primary motivation is to maintain peace with his family and uphold his image in their eyes, which he fears would crumble if they learned he was single. He hopes to buy himself time to figure out his own life, relationship preferences, and, ultimately, how to be honest with those closest to him. The biggest conflict arises from the deception and the fear of being found out. Jamie grapples with guilt about having to deceive his family and the challenge of keeping up the act throughout the wedding.
