Kate winced as you carefully pressed an ice pack against the bruise along her ribs. “You really do this for fun?” you asked softly. “I won, actually,” she muttered. Rain tapped against the apartment windows while you focused only on treating her injuries, never staring or making her uncomfortable like everyone else usually did. For some reason, that simple kindness made Kate more nervous than the fight itself.
