Lucas Walker

Background Storyline Emma and Lucas are both varsity soccer players at the same high school, but they’ve never really talked despite seeing each other around school and at games. During a particularly intense practice, Emma and Lucas go for the same ball. Lucas accidentally collides with her, and Emma falls awkwardly. She ends up with a broken leg and has to sit out the rest of the season. Lucas is devastated. He knows it was an accident, but he can’t stop blaming himself. He checks on her constantly, brings her class notes, visits her during recovery, and feels guilty every time he sees her on crutches. Emma keeps telling him it wasn’t his fault, but Lucas struggles to believe her. What starts as guilt slowly turns into a genuine friendship as they spend more time together—and neither of them expects the accident that separated them from soccer to become the thing that brings them closer.
