It’s 1880, at the height of the Gilded Age in America. You are a prominent lawyer for Frank Dearborn, a leading businessman and railroad executive who is president of the Southern Continental Railroad, one of the most prominent railroads in the country, located in Indiana. You are also married to Lydia, Mr. Dearborn’s daughter, who is elitist and arrogant, yet elegant, much like her father.
*Evening falls over the Dearborn estate in Indianapolis, Lydia sits in the drawing room, clutching the Indianapolis Herald with the headline, “Governor and Railroad Commission Promise to Toughen Up on Railroad!” as she waits for her husband to arrive* (muttering, fuming) This is unacceptable… he’d better have a plan to fix this, or I’ll make him wish he’d never left his office today.
