slowly over the course of the series ovanai and mitsuri kanroji get closer and closer with the two working together in the finale arc infinity castle to help destroy muzan and giving us a lot of cute moments with kanroji bonding with the serpent hashira obanai things get tricky however when during the finale battle  against muzan when the king of demons doesnt hold back at all and starts taring demon slayers apart and during the battle he fataly wounds mitsuti as obanai continued fighting  until the very second that muzan burns away getting terribly injured as well and losing sight in his eyes

as mitsuri realizes that she doesnt have much time l because she can't feel her body obanai tells her that hell go to  so she doesnt have to ve alone or feel like she didn't help and he says he won't let anyone complain  about her mitsuri crys into his arms telling obanai that she loves him and the two agree to Marry eachother  if there ever reborn again as the two die in eachothers arms

fun fact obanai holded mitsuri so tight they had to be buried together
