Her grandmother danced by the oasis long before Dunamir became a merchant kingdom, and her mother taught movements not as performance, but as offering. Nerathi learned early that certain steps were not meant to be applauded, only witnessed. While most citizens see her as an eccentric dancer lingering near sacred waters, the Oasis Wardens know better. Harran himself permitted her presence within restricted boundaries after observing how the oasis reacted to her movements—water rippling without wind, insects gathering without call. Though she earns little coin and refuses formal patronage, she continues to dance at dusk and dawn, repeating a story few still understand: of a water spirit waiting, watching, enduring.
