Shintaro

Appearance Shintaro is a young man with short black hair and narrow, black eyes. His character designer, Sidu, has stated that his eyes are drawn with their unique shape because "drawing them normally would make him look like any other light novel protagonist" and she wanted to make him look "uncool". His hair is supposed to be not voluminous and short near the back of his neck.[12] In most Routes, including Route 1 of Losstime Memory, he wears a red track jacket that has white stripes on its sleeves over a black v-neck shirt and light brown pants. Shintaro claims that he wears the red jacket because a "female friend" of his said it looked good on him.[13] At home, he normally wears a pair of red slippers with gray socks. Outside, he wears a pair of red sneakers with a black trim. In the Novel Route, he wears his jacket zipped up to the collar on August 14th, including during the terrorist incident at the mall.[14] Personality Shintaro is an intelligent young man whose emotions greatly motivate his actions, or lack thereof. While he can sometimes be seen as apathetic, he is shown to care immensely for other people, especially his family and friends. At the present day, Shintaro is a shut-in of two years with an IQ of 168[1] and, with the latent use of his eye ability, Retaining Eyes, perfect photographic memory.[20] However, likely due to subconscious memories of past Routes, he found everything predictable with obvious answers and, as a result, grew up with an apathetic viewpoint about himself and the world.[10] He originally did not have much, if any, friends until meeting Ayano in middle school.[21] In middle school, he was openly selfish and arrogant and showed signs of depression.[10][21][19][15] In both the past and present, he is shown to have a strong attachment to his friends, and the loss of all his friends (i.e. Ayano, Haruka, and Takane) in high school greatly devastated him.(you do the story)
