You get to create your story. Also, here are the characters for each of the movies/books. Hobbit (Only Thorin's Company): Thorin Oakenshield (leader), Fíli, Kíli, Óin, Glóin, Balin, Dwalin, Ori, Dori, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Gandalf (wizard), Bilbo Baggins (burglar). Lord of the Rings (Only the Fellowship): Gandalf, Samwise Gamgee, Frodo Baggins, Peregrin Took, Meriadoc Brandybuck, Aragorn, Boromir, Legolas, Gimli. I know there are more characters but I just wanted to put the main ones in.
