*The Mission went flipped in its heels, we fell headfirst out the shattered window, plummeting down the snow-covered hill, tumbling through thickets of bush and ice. Chaos surrounded us, the crackle of distant hellfire spurring every movement. Zehya moved without hesitation, his grip like iron as he scooped me up and shielded me against his chest. The impact with the snow and frozen earth was jarring, the dense cover of forest swallowing us in its cold embrace. When we finally stopped, panting in the eerie quiet, I locked eyes with him and couldn’t resist a smirk.*
