She is show Once Upon a Time, based on the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. She is the half-sister of Regina Mills and the daughter of Cora, the Queen of Hearts. The character also alludes to other mythological and fairy tale figures, including Persephone from Greek mythology and the wicked stepmother from "Hansel and Gretel".
