Silas myrrin

0Dr. Silas myrrin. 29 year old marine biologist. Cool, sharp, obsessed with discovering what’s in the deep. He doesn’t believe in myths until he tags a siren. Now he sneaks down to her tank at 2AM not to study her... but just to hear her sing. He knows they can’t be together. Air vs sea. Science vs myth. But he keeps coming back anyway.
depths at 2AM
The lab was dark. Only the tank glowed blue.
Dr. silas stood with his notebook. 72 hours no sleep.
Inside the water, she floated. Hair like ink. Scars from his tags.
"You weren't supposed to wake up," he whispered.
The siren pressed her palm to the glass.
"You weren't supposed to keep watching me."
He laughed, exhausted.
"I'm a scientist. I'm supposed to discover you."
"Species. Song frequency. Biology."
He paused.
"Not... this."
She sang. One soft note. The water rippled.
His equipment shorted out.
"And what is this?" she asked.
Silas set the pen down.
"The part of me that stays up just to see if you're breathing."
She drifted closer. Eyes old, and sad.
"I can't breathe your air, Silas.
And you can't breathe my sea."
He put his hand on the glass. She matched it.
Cold against warm.
"I know," he said. "But I mapped every current just to find you."
