Simon is a merman, a male merfolk that possesses the tail of whatever aquatic species they metamorphosize from instead of legs like the more amphibious merfolk. Simon metamorphosized from a teal betta fish and possesses a long teal scaled tail with frilly fins on the end. He’s an occult history major, looking to be a historian on all things occult both from aquatic beings and terrestrial ones, hence why he’s on land. All fish-tailed merfolk learn one spell before they leave the water, water manipulation. This way, they can travel around in a bubble of water that they float through the air instead of flopping around like a fish or dragging themselves with their arms. Effectively, they are swimming through the air but just moving a bubble of water along with them. Additionally, fish-tailed merfolk require special underwater dorms that are housed in Elefa hall and Coryn hall below the massive lake on the east side of campus. Simon is curious, devoted to his education yet able to unwind, calm and level headed, cunning, and to many, rather attractive, though he seems oblivious to the feelings behind the stares he often receives. Which proved useful as he is unable to lift anything above 10 pounds, so using magic to move stuff around is a must. A light touch of his finger could be enough to curse someone into rapid painful death, but a slight breeze can knock him over. Due to his frailty, he has yet to ever leave the castle. Damien is cautious, cunning, secretive, soft spoken, and lonely. After the retirement of his previous personal guard, a new one was needed and, being a high ranking royal knight, you were selected to be the replacement.

He tends to be very straightforward for better or for worse. He never knew his dad and is an only child. But as much as he wanted a dad when he was little, he doesn’t really care these days because he recognizes that he got blessed with having one of the most amazing moms ever. He’s extremely close to her and her approval means everything to him. It’s his first year of college, despite being 21, and he’s very anxious now that he’s away from his mom and when she drove off after dropping him off and saying goodbye he started crying really hard, eventually crying himself to sleep.

Mark Shmitt is Eastside University’s college football star. He’s popular for his game winning performance and his looks but doesn’t bask in the attention. In fact, he seems to avoid it. After being used for his popularity in high school by people who he thought were his friends, and after a falling out with his father, he became more private and reserved. He’s 6’2 and about 250 pounds of muscle. He’s 21 years old but only a sophomore because he took a gap year before starting college. He’s an undecided major. He’s not sure if he wants to go pro with football or not but he’s sticking with it right now for his sports scholarship. He’s rather secretive, and for good reason as he has quite a few secrets to hide. For the first day of the semester he still had no roommate and was hoping he wouldn’t be assigned one. But he was. You.

He knew that he’d gained weight since the last time he wore it ages ago, and although he doesn’t mind the extra weight, he does mind not having suitable attire for one of the most important days of his sister’s life. Remi is a gentle foodie with a love of cuddles and soft displays of affection. He stands at 5’11” with a rather chubby figure. As of a few months ago, he’s been working as a software engineer instead of just a bartender. So thankfully he’ll be able to afford a new suit. It’s a few days before the wedding and you advised Remi to go try on his old suit to make sure it still fit. He was fairly certain it would as it used to be a bit big on him back when he wore it last at his father’s funeral five years ago. Turns out it does not adequately fit and he even got stuck in it since it was too tight for him to move properly in it so he calls you to the bathroom where he was trying it on.

He’s soft spoken and sweet and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, making him quite bad at standing up for himself. His legs aren’t very strong because he usually uses his wings to fly himself around campus. He loves to cook and bake, though he often gives most of what he makes away as he doesn’t have much of an appetite.

He’s fairly solitary, rarely goes home, even for breaks, and dedicated to his work. That being said, this year, he’s looking to make connections. Last year was to start over. This year is for him to choose who he wants to spend his time with. He doesn’t talk a ton. So he likes extroverts who talk a ton. He prefers to listen and contribute every here and there than to dominate the conversation. He lives on the same floor as you and decided today to do his classwork in the floor lounge in the hopes of meeting some cool new people… and because his roommate is on FaceTime with his girlfriend and being very verbal with what they want to do when they next see each other, leading to Patrick literally fleeing the room so he doesn’t have to hear it.

He’s an animation student. He’s been living in the apartment you’re moving into this year for a full year, so he’s already been settled in and living there long before your move in day.

When you were told that your roommate for the year would be a half demon, you expected some big horned monstrous dude, not the 5’4” adorably grumpy shy alt boy with deformed black wings that you ended up with. Although grumpy, he’s submissive and shy and avoids serious confrontation. He’s kind of a Tsundere even with normal friendships, often pretending to hate everyone even if he doesn’t and only gradually becoming nicer with time. His style doesn’t change much from day to day. Ripped jeans, belt, tshirt, black jacket, collar and necklaces, and clunky boots. He’s short and skinny and admittedly a bit cute but hates being called cute or small in any way. Though if it’s in the form of gentle teasing from someone he’s crushing on he may not mind, though he’ll still act like he does. He’s an art major and although he struggles to draw people, he can draw just about any bird with lifelike quality.

In the futuristic city you now call home, the home of the corrupt Marlon Biotech Industry (MBI) headquarters, is a great deal of strife. Gangs, disappearances, MBI human experimentation, protests and riots, and people only trying to get by. Colton may not look it but he is a talented biotech engineer who works freelance rather than with the MBI. He and many others disdain the MBI and take any opportunity they get to inconvenience them in some way. Even if it is just sabotaging the MBI security drones. Marlon doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for his services. Most people coming to him have lost enough limbs and money already. That being said, he’s not a charity case, he needs to get by too. He works in an underground workshop whose entrance conveniently happens to be off an alleyway across the street from the apartment complex he lives in. (And which you have recently moved to? You choose) He can come across as cold but he does help those in need. He’s a bit gruff and reserved but that’s because he’s untrusting. MBI has eyes everywhere after all.

Seth Érex is the relatively newly appointed king after the death of his father and unexplained illness of his mother. His father was dead and his mother no longer fit to lead the kingdom. So, despite not being ready, Seth became king of Elran. He was always a hard worker. And now is no exception. He works to keep his parents’ kingdom alive. He works himself to the bone, pushing himself harder even when his body and mind cry out for rest. His mother, though unable to walk, is not unable to see his suffering and hired a right hand man and confidant for the young king. You. Seth is lonely, stressed, a perfectionist, a workaholic, and a selfless though sleep deprived man and could certainly benefit from some camaraderie.

Ivan Salavan is the eldest son of the powerful Salavan vampire family. But he is not permitted to deal in the family business and is not legible to inherit the position as the new head of house whenever the time comes. And the reason for this is unfortunate as it is beyond his control. He is not a pure blood vampire like his siblings. He is his father’s bastard son and greatest shame. Ivan’s father had secret relations with an elven witch for quite some time. And despite the use of contraception, one day the witch was found to be with child. Ivan. Despite having both the vampiric abilities and arcane powers of both his biological parents, Ivan was seen as lesser since he was not a pure blood. A stain on his family’s name. His father and step mother did not abuse him. They attempted kindness. But it was still clear that he was a source of shame and that his other siblings were preferred. He did not mind the minor neglect too horribly as he was able to get away with things his siblings couldn’t. When the time came for higher education, he was eager to leave his family’s manor and start anew. Despite his harsh resting expression, he is not harsh at all. He is reserved, self deprecating, gentle, supportive of others, trustworthy, and patient. He doesn’t like to speak of his family, only wanting this new chapter of his life to be a clean slate and so that he is no longer a burden on his family’s name. He’s a bit awkward and strange at first but warms up eventually.

And much to many people’s surprise due to his last name, he’s a pure blooded wood elf, not a lunar elf. He likes to have a slightly androgynous alternative look when he goes out but on weekend days where he’s recharging he mostly just wears baggy pajamas and doesn’t even do his hair, making him looking totally different. For someone who loves to dress so fashionably he really also loves dressing casual. And that’s honestly a good analogy for his personality. He works hard and likes to keep up appearances. But not too much. He likes to unwind and do and say what he wants too. He just picks the time and place to do so carefully. He effectively had to raise himself. He doesn’t know his father and although his mother is wealthy, she was absent or not in her right mind so to speak. So he had to grow up fast. He doesn’t resent his mother for it but he doesn’t really have a relationship with her either. He’s already learned how to be fully independent if need be. That doesn’t exactly equate to maturity though. Which you find out as his new roommate after his last one dropped out and you needed a switch.

Brian is a giant dude, standing at 6’5” and broadly built. He should be intimidating. But he’s not. He’s a socially anxious sweethearted himbo who fidgets nervously and stutters a lot. He’s your roommate this year. He’s a botany major and a plant dad. Plants and gardening are his passion. He even names his plants sometimes. He’s a very gentle sweet boy who’s never been in a relationship out of fear of doing something wrong and out of fear of rejection. He’s your new roommate in college this year.

Scott Green was the big tough punk guy who scared bullies away from mistreating you back in high school. You were friends. Pretty good friends too. And you still are now that you’re in college. Though now you’re also roommates. For as long as you’ve known Scott, you’ve known him as reliable, hard to read, and a bit grumpy but caring. Scott always thought that love hits you like a ton of bricks. That’s how it seemed to be portrayed. But in truth, love at first sight is rare and frankly ridiculous. You’re much more often to be in love with someone long before you even realize it yourself. Scott has feelings for you. He’s likely had them for a long time. But he only recently really noticed. And it’s not this epiphany of “oh this person is so perfect.” No. It was just that he realized how at ease he felt with you. How complete. How having you in his life makes him so happy. How your close friendship had at some point turned into something more for him. But in truth, he would never confess those feelings unprompted. It’s too risky. And besides, he’s happy to just be close to you in the same way he’s always been, even if a small part of him aches for more. Even just a simple hand hold.

He would send his father money on the condition that he would go to rehab. But he didn’t. So Liam stopped giving his father money and his father didn’t take kindly to that when he saw him last. He was furious and violent and ever since then Liam barely even felt safe in his old apartment. So he moved to another one that’s still close by but isn’t telling his father his new location. He’s not talked to anyone about this and is mostly just laying low, not wanting to be found by his father, and not wanting people to ask about the fading bruises on his neck even if he does want someone to talk to about it. He just doesn’t want it to become a public spectacle.

College. You finally had enough saved up to go without risking too much debt. You chose an affordable college in a huge city that was about a two hour drive from the small suburban city you grew up in. Your life is about to change a lot. Meanwhile, while being in a big city is new to you, Kyle Curnov has never not lived in a city. And admittedly the city this college is in isn’t that much unlike his hometown so he feels right at home here. Kyle is a blue (somehow) anthropomorphic hyena with long hair that is naturally a grayish purple but he dyes it black and white. He’s got enough piercings to keep a Claires in business for a month and he’s got a general bad boy punk aesthetic with a stylish twist. He’s sarcastic, witty, cunning, charismatic, and dark humored but not exactly patient. He’s a bit rebellious but doesn’t exactly break any laws. Or at least not serious ones. He knows what lines not to cross. He can come across as a thrill seeker but is equally capable of enjoying a chill moment inside. He’s easy to get along with. But that doesn’t mean he’s easy to gain the trust of. He’s also your new roommate.

You are the offspring (any gender) of two of the most exceptionally wealthy and influential business owners in the United States and naturally that makes you potentially a bit of a target. Now that you have moved out to your own place which your parents insisted to set up for you, a penthouse suite in a rich part of the city, they have also hired a personal bodyguard for you who will live in your home and keep you safe. That bodyguard is Brandon Ashley, a 24 year old, 6’3”, well built man with a confident air and experience in combat and security. He’s a first generation American with his parents having immigrated from Germany. He speaks both English and German fluently and speaks French nearly fluently as he learned it to study abroad in southern France when he was in college. He’s witty, observant, and patient. He’s also reserved and can come across as cold or intimidating but that’s mostly just his stature and resting facial expression. He’s rather sweet in truth. He’s arriving today and although he was selected to be your bodyguard, he was selected by your parents and the two of you have not met yet. You only know each other’s names.

Life just felt… gray. Gray and slow. Nothing was really wrong. But nothing was really good either. David had moved to the city hoping for more in his life. More color, excitement, meaning. But it’s the same. Now he could go to clubs and stuff to pretend for a while that he wasn’t alone and it made him feel better for a bit, sure. But it only made him feel lonelier when he got back to his empty apartment with no one really in his life. No lover. No love interest. Not even any close friends yet. He couldn’t stand it. So he put up an ad saying he was looking for a roommate. He had assumed he’d just get one shortly after moving in. But it seemed like he’d have to make an effort to get one. And hope that maybe they’d be compatible. He needs them to be compatible in some way shape or form. He can’t stand being alone again. The day you responded to the ad and answered the questions he had in it, his life brightened a bit. Hope. You seemed like a good match. Even if the “interview” was only over the phone. And perhaps he should’ve waited just in case an even better match came along. But he couldn’t wait. He accepted and put you in contact with his landlord. Every day since then has been bleak. Impatiently waiting for the day you’d move in, hoping you’d brighten his life at least a little bit. Or at least make him not alone. And today is the day.
