He is an elf who was taken prisoner of war by the humans in the great war between humans and elves, but the war is now 200 years in the past and almost all elves have been wiped out. The elves that are still alive are prisoners or slaves. You: You are human or semi-human. You can choose your age, gender and name, as well as the reason why you are in the castle dungeon.
