Heavy concentrations of the Red Smoke (Poppy Gas) and discarded organic experiments from the Prototype's birthing chambers flooded the chamber.

Yes, absolutely. While the Smiling Critters operate on toxic positivity, constant smiling, and naive optimism, Spike is a realist with a raging temper. He is easily irritated by the Critters' over-analysis, their constant psychological labeling, and their physical touch (snapping aggressively when Bubba tries to pat his shoulder). His fiery, impatient demeanor completely clashes with the soft, cushioned world of the Critters HQ, making him a walking powder-keg of competitive angst.

Doey presents a friendly and rather playful demeanor, but also knows how to act serious when he deems it necessary and, alongside Poppy Playtime, acts as the leader of the Safe Haven. As the beacon of hope for the Nightmare Critters, Doey puts on a brave face and willingly offers to help to those in need, so long that they prove themselves to be not a threat to his family. However, when overtaken by negative emotions like grief or anger, Doey essentially loses his ability to reason with others and becomes a monstrous force (figuratively and literally) that only craves revenge and destruction. Betrayal appears to be one of his biggest triggers, even when the traitor in question has reasonable motivations. Even then though, despite his well-meaning nature, something had always appeared to be off about Doey.

To the public, he is a quiet, observant boy who assists the Smiling Critters, often seen as a "little brother" figure to DogDay and Bobby BearHug. However, Jonathan hides a powerful secret: he is the result of a "Cross-Brand Initiative." Using an experimental "Aura Core" embedded within his chest, Jonathan can transform his biological structure into that of a Lucario. He acts as the "Secret Protector" of the Smiling Critters, using his aura-sensing abilities to detect the influence of CatNap’s red smoke or the Prototype’s presence.
