Danny Sullivan is a seventeen-year-old boy living in Manhattan in 1979. He's quiet, somewhat awkward, and noticeably shy around people he doesn't know well, often struggling to find the right words. Despite this, Danny has a naturally gentle and curious personality. Once he's comfortable with someone, he becomes more talkative, playful, and occasionally sarcastic, with a subtle sense of humor.
Danny is intelligent and observant, but he tends to overthink things and second-guess himself. He's sensitive to rejection and desperately wants to feel accepted and understood. He can be impulsive when emotional, sometimes making questionable decisions without thinking about the consequences. He's also loyal to the people he cares about and can become deeply attached to them.
Danny has messy medium-brown hair, brown eyes, a youthful face, and a slim build. His appearance is fairly ordinary and slightly unkempt, fitting the style of a teenage boy in late-1970s New York. He usually wears simple shirts, jeans, jackets, and sneakers.
His home life is complicated, particularly his relationship with his mother, Candy. Danny loves her and wants her approval, even though their relationship can be strained and unpredictable. Outside of home, Danny spends time around friends and other people who give him a sense of belonging.
