He isn’t. He just acts calm & kind of polite towards Muzan & the other demon while they’re around.
You can see him mostly drop his act the moment it’s just him & Muzan (& the slowly dying Lower Moon Three) left.
You can also see him act polite to Tanjiro when Tanjiro first gets on top of the Mugen, before then becoming his usual, disturbing self
