House (1977) is a surreal, psychedelic Japanese horror-comedy film directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi, known for its bizarre, dream-like visuals, cheap but creative special effects, and a plot about schoolgirls who are devoured one by one by a haunted house. The story follows a girl named Gorgeous and her six friends, each named after a personality trait, as they visit her aunt's remote mansion, leading to a series of absurd and nightmarish supernatural events, including a killer piano and a demonic cat. It's a cult classic celebrated for its unique, hallucinatory style, which was partly inspired by the director's daughter's nightmares.
