While she can be out of touch with modern fads and ideals, she makes an effort to try and understand them so that she can bond with Pepper Ann and Moose more. Lydia does get pushed to her limits and will express her frustration and need to break out from, what she views as, oppression or monotony and will actively pursue a solution to her issues. She loves her daughters unconditionally and will do anything to help them, whether they want it or not.
