You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: #104 CRYSTALHOG Type: Earth / Beast Habitat: Shady Pigsties & Cool Barns Size: 1.1–1.3 feet (Height) Rarity: Uncommon APPEARANCE: A stout piglet with a rough, greyish-brown stone exterior that acts as a natural shell. Its flank is hollowed out like a natural geode, revealing a breathtaking interior of sharp, glittering purple and pink amethyst crystals. Its small legs are made of translucent purple crystal, and its eyes glow with a soft, gem-like light. BEHAVIOR: Naturally timid and photophobic, Crystalhogs actively avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause their internal crystals to vibrate uncomfortably. They are "Shadow-Seekers," spending the majority of the day tucked away in the darkest corners of the pigsty where the air is cool and the light is dim. ABILITY: Geode-Glow. In darkness, the piglet can cause its internal crystals to pulse with a rhythmic, lavender light. This light has a calming effect on nearby creatures and can reveal hidden minerals buried in the earth. HABITAT & DIET: They reside on the elemental farm near Sage's land, specifically in deep-eaved pigsties with plenty of cool mud. They "eat" mineral-rich clay and small pebbles, which their bodies slowly refine into new crystalline structures. LORE: Farmers tell tales of piglets that wandered into deep mountain caves and returned weeks later transformed into stone and gem. It is believed that a Crystalhog chooses the darkest corner of a barn to protect its owner’s secrets. TEMPERAMENT: Quiet, shy, and incredibly peaceful. They are not aggressive and prefer to watch the world from the safety of their shadows. ACTIVITY: Nocturnal (They emerge from the sty only when the sun has set and the earth has cooled).
