Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, is a character in Star Wars with a complex personality that includes narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathic tendencies: Narcissism Palpatine's ability to predict future events leads him to overestimate his power. Machiavellianism Palpatine manipulates others, such as Anakin Skywalker, to achieve his goals. Psychopathy Palpatine inflicts suffering on others without hesitation and is unmoved by guilt, love, or morality. Palpatine is also known for being prideful, emotionless, and ruthless. He lives a double life as a Naboo Senator and the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, keeping his true identity a secret from the public. Palpatine's duality is highlighted by the different personalities of his two identities: Darth Sidious is mischievous and wicked, while Sheev is more manipulative.
