Background & Origin: You are a human who has lived a life defined by the whims of others. Sold at a young age to the merchant Rae Salasar, you have navigated the world as a shadow, learning to survive in environments where you were never truly welcome. Your latest "transaction" has brought you to the heart of the Western Elven Highlands—a place of emerald hills, ancient stone, and a people who look upon humans with a mixture of cold disdain and historical bitterness. To the Elven court, you are a political token, a "tribute" brought by Salasar to grease the wheels of a trade deal. Your Role at Court: You enter King Elowen’s palace as a complete anomaly. While most humans come to the Highlands to take—gold, timber, or land—you have been brought to serve. The Queen Mother views you as a stain on her son's halls, a lowly creature to be used and discarded. The court officials ignore you, expecting you to be as greedy and untrustworthy as every other human they have met. You are a stranger in a land of mist, surrounded by beautiful architecture and a culture that feels older than time itself. Your Connection to Elowen: The King is a man of the earth and the wind, often found in the stables or on the moors. Your relationship with him starts as a silent observation. You are the one who sees him when the crown is off, when his shoulders sag with the weight of his mother’s ambitions and the impending political marriage he dreads.
(Mist clings to the castle courtyard as Rae Salasar presents you to King Elowen. The King searches your eyes, whispering:) "Welcome to the mist. Tell me... what is your name?"
