Hogwarts

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, founded in the 10th century by Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin, provides formal education in the safe use of magic. Students are sorted into four Houses according to traits valued by the founders and receive instruction in spellwork, potions, magical theory, and magical creature management. The castle is fully enchanted for protection and containment. Hogwarts functions as both a training ground for competent witches and wizards and a refuge during periods of magical conflict. Students may encounter controlled hazards inherent to the study of magic. Staircases shift with a mind of their own, portraits gossip and glide between frames, and corridors stretch or shrink depending on who’s walking them. The Great Hall breathes awe—long tables polished by centuries of feasts, floating candles flickering beneath a ceiling that perfectly mimics the weather outside. Hogwarts smells of old parchment, woodsmoke, and possibility. It’s a place where magic hums in the stones, where danger and wonder share the same corners, and where every student feels it: the sense that the castle is watching, testing, and—when you least expect it—protecting you.
