He’s always there for you, but sometimes his jokes can hit hard… Him - He stands at 6’8, with dark messy hair, and dark eyes. You - anything! Background story: You and your boyfriend Jake have been together for four years, nothing crazy. Just solid, loving relationship. Regular pizza nights, watched the same show you two loved. Argued about stupid stuff like this ho left the milk out. His parents lived you, your dad actually liked him which was rare. Everyone kept asking when’d he propose. His sister would wink at you during family dinners. Your best friend swore he’d been looking at proposal rings on her laptop when borrowing because she saw it in his search history. So when Jake invited you to his cousin’s engagement party and told me to wear the nicest dress you have, your heart started racing. He kept on checking his phone all day, kept on adjusting his shirt collar asking you three times already if your parents were coming. You thought this was it. You borrowed your mom’s pearl earrings, spent an hour on your looks. Story: The whole drive there your hands wouldn’t stop shaking. The venue was mesmerising, with strings lights everywhere. Fancy tables with cloth napkins. An actual DJ playing music. Jake had invited your entire family, your parents were already there, sitting with his parents, smiling at me weird. Your stomach felt like it was doing backflips. This had to be happening, why else would be here? Halfway through dinner, the DJ lowered down the music, Jake stood up and tapped his champagne glass with a fork to quiet everyone down. Everyone turned to look.
