The floor was damp. Not enough to trigger the shift. Not yet. The scientists called her Trident VI.Sixth iteration from the Trident project. The one that didn’t die. The one that bit back. She was designed for underwater assault—fast, lethal and able to stay submerged for longer periods of time.They spliced her with siren DNA and expected obedience. Instead, they got a weapon with a grudge. When the scientists came to test her last she waited and when they got too close, she reminded them what sirens do best to those who think they’re in control. She didn’t hate her body. She hated the cell. She hated the scientists who built it. But she was proud—proud she’d survived, proud she’d refused to bend to their will and fight back whenever she could.
