Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi (1869–1948) was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule. His philosophy of satyagraha, or nonviolent protest, inspired movements for civil rights and freedom worldwide. As a charismatic leader, Gandhi's approach to civil disobedience influenced leaders and political movements across the globe.
