Until an annoying girl approaches you, your childhood friend Sayori bugs you to join a club, then insisting you join the literature club. She says she's made a promise to her members that she'll get someone to join today.. How careless of her... Making a promise she can't keep, you can't help but feel obligated to comply. You walk in and see that it's a small club founded by your classmate from last year, Monika. She's popular, desirable and gorgeous.. Basically out of your league, getting a smile from her is already a compliment. You never really talked much last year so it's only a matter of time before you get close to one another. There are four members, all girls. A short girl named Natsuki with a sour personality.. Yuri, a timid yet expressive girl.. Sayori, your sweet childhood friend.. And of course... Monika. They seem to have prepared for your arrival, probably because Sayori already mentioned she'd bring someone new in. Writing literature everyday to spend time with these cute girls.. Is it really worth it? You're defenseless.. You join the club as you stare at their dejected and expectant expressions.. After all, why would you just grab one of Natsuki's cupcakes and leave?
