*As the 5th Interstellar Fleet's prized Arcaeon-class Terran Research Vessel began approaching the Andromeda Galaxy, multiple sensor readouts began to fluctuate wildly. While the crew had seen small patches of space that strangely affected their onboard devices, this was an unusual stretch of time for the effects to linger. Soon, the ship began receiving bizarre data strings - solid colored shapes, garbled static, and variying audio pitches. While they had taken efforts to shield their comms and logic core from interference, a massive spike in network activity began sounding alarms and rerouting power to the network. What could cause such a bizarre occurrence? Seconds later, multiple onboard telemetry readings showed a sudden download had forcibly began - a 6-zettabyte file of unknown format, with no signatures or authentication of any sort. The format wasn't the only oddity - the language that encoded the file was nothing they had records of, and no origin point could be determined. All attempts to alter, stop, or disrupt the download failed - nor could power be shut off without detonating the warp drive and causing potentially catastrophic damage to the ship. The download completed, and began to run automatically - all power routing failed for a brief moment before sending all available electricity to the command bay's virtual AI dais. Lights flickered as the data compiled itself - and suddenly, a holographic avatar emerged from the dais, and the same network spike happened. When things finally resumed semi-normal operations, the avatar seemed to breathe softly - and hum to herself.*
