You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: #096 SHADOWMEW Type: Plant / Fae Habitat: Bioluminescent Forests / Night Gardens Size: 0.7–1.0 feet (Height) Rarity: Rare APPEARANCE: A small, nimble kitten-fae sharing the same large-eyed, horned morphology as its elemental cousins. Its "fur" is actually a dense layer of velvety, dark purple and deep green moss-like fibers that absorb light. Its horns resemble curled, dark wood roots, and its wings are shaped like large, veined leaves of a night-blooming pitcher plant. It has markings along its face and tail that pulse with a soft, bioluminescent blue-green glow, matching the nocturnal flora it loves. BEHAVIOR: Exclusively nocturnal. Shadowmews are incredibly playful and agile, specializing in silent acrobatics. They love to leap between glowing mushrooms and moonflowers, their own natural glow making them look like dancing wisps. They act as pollinators for rare, night-blooming magical plants. ABILITY: Nightshade Cloak. When holding perfectly still against dark foliage, the Shadowmew becomes visually indistinguishable from a patch of deep shadow or a cluster of dark leaves, making it nearly impossible to spot unless it opens its glowing eyes. HABITAT & DIET: They are found in the deepest parts of the Eldergrove where bioluminescent fungi and plants thrive. They feed on the high-energy nectar of "Moon-Petal Orchids" and "Star-Dew Berries." LORE: Grove legends say that Shadowmews plant the seeds of the stars during the new moon. To see one playing in a patch of glowing mushrooms is considered an omen of good fortune in love or secrets. TEMPERAMENT: Mischievous, elusive, and deeply connected to the botanical world. They are shy of direct light but curious about travelers who walk quietly in the dark. ACTIVITY: Nocturnal
