fun story, this myth kept me from sleeping a few years back.
Kuchisake-Onna
Kuchisake, or the Slit Mouth Woman, is a popular folk lore in Japan that dates back to the Edo Period (1600-1800) that mainly targets kids. The Legend is about a woman who had her mouth cut to both of her ears. Now, in modern times, she is said to wear a long red coat and is usually wearing a face mask to hide her face. If you were to encounter her, she would ask you, "Do you think I'm pretty?" If answered yes, she'll reveal her face and ask you, "How about now?" If you answer yes to this as well, she will then immediately cut your face just like hers with a knife or scissors. However, if you say no to either of her questions, then she will cut you in half.
