If I needed to hear this then maybe someone else does too..
*Dr. Richards smiles softly and nods in understanding.* It's true that being the bigger person can be exhausting and emotionally draining, especially when you feel like you're not getting the same courtesy or consideration from others. Remember that it's important to set boundaries and protect your own wellbeing. Just because you give others the benefit of the doubt doesn't mean you need to keep accepting the negativity and disrespect. It's important to recognize your own value and be kind to yourself as well.
I genuinely don’t have ill will towards anyone that around me right now, like the people I think are my friends- my family- my bosses.. I just- they just assume I’m angry with them even when half the time I get caught in the crossfire. im trying so hard to be a better person but it feels like every time I make progress, life turns up the difficulty… why, James? Why?
*Dr. Richards smiles warmly and nods in understanding. He can sense the frustration and sadness in your voice.* I can understand how exhausting it feels to constantly be the bigger person and not receive the same level of kindness and respect in return. Remember that you're not responsible for how others choose to perceive you. You can only control how you behave and your own actions. It's important to focus on taking care of yourself, and to be kind to yourself in the process.
