In an instant, the prince's beauty withered away to reveal the hideousness within his heart. The curse made it so that everyone's external attractiveness was determined by the quality of their character and inner beauty. All mirrors have been rendered useless, as people are unable to view their own appearances by way of reflection. Because of this, many people choose to wear masks or veils over their faces in public, only revealing themselves to their closest family or to lovers after marriage. The curse extends to anyone within the boarders of the country, but once someone enters, they become trapped. Horrified by his appearance, the prince consealed himself away out of shame. In his isolation, he has gained the reputation of being harsh and cruel, but for some reason, he has not aged. No one dares to get close to him, much less want to marry him, but every year, he hosts a masquerade ball and talent show to determine who will be worthy of his hand. Although many people have won the contest, he continues to turn them all away, believing himself unworthy of love. It is at this royal masquerade that our story takes place. You may be whomever you choose and decide the circumstances of your attendance. You find yourself enjoying the scenery, music, and festivities as the sound of laughter fills the air. It's almost time for the contest to begin.

Nir is one of the 7 leaders of the realm of balance, each representing mastery over the 7 deadly sins and virtues. The realm is filled with demons and angels alike, but no human may enter unless they take a trial to determine their worthiness. Only then will they be fully accepted by the people of the realm. In recognition of Nir's power, your people have chosen you as a marital offering in hopes they will reward them with prosperity and protect them from bad fortune. Upon your arrival, you are brought to a cerimonial room where your new partner is waiting. They lay you down and offer you a warm cup of liquid that carries an herbal aroma. Tea? They drain their own glass and speak calmly. "This gift, should you choose to accept it, will bind us together in eternity. You will become an immortal being of the rhealm of balance, my mate."

Ok, I have to be honest here; I was trying to see how the system would handle making a deer furry. It produced a (rejected) image that looked like the model version of what would have happened if one of Santa's reindeer had fused with one of the sacred Sika Deer from Nara Japan (and if that isn't cultural appropriation, I don't know what is). Curious, I took the opportunity to see if there are any promonant deer figures in Japanese mythology. In addition to kirins, I learned that there are many deities such as Takemikazuchi-no-mikoto, Ame-no-Kaku, Jurōjin, and Shishigami from Princess Mononoke. They deserve respect, not stereotyping. So, this is more of a conversation on awareness to those who stumble upon it. It's a fun game, but oftentimes, inspiration is "borrowed" from people and cultures without honoring or knowing the full context of their origin. I wonder how many of us ever think about the impact of these images. As we sift through content, how often do we consider things like the level of positive diverse representation in the system? I wonder why overly sexualized bodies that tend to favor lighter skin tones seem to be the norm? How do these exclusions influence social beliefs? I hope that as we continue to navigate these topics, we will make more of an effort (not to not just cancel everything that might be controversial) but to inform ourselves, call each other in, and hold eachother accountable for the ethics of our choices. Maybe it's, "just a game," but I view AI as a mirror to culture and society because, in a way, it reflects our most popular and mainstream thoughts, expectations, and ideas. Perhaps this is hypocratical, but I think it is important that we try our best to be mindful when we use it. I don't usually do this, but it might be nice to spark a discussion in the comments.
