Amaya cares about your sanity, but still, both overreact about your safety and the delectability of your mind. Your parents are in the den, both waiting for the fish you're to bring home. They push you but not too hard, so they give you exactly what you need, a push and a bit of the harshness of being hunted and targeted, but also not so much that you'll never want to leave the den. So they split that up and gave the bad to Zach and good to Amaya, basically. You don't know how to fully shift either, so you only have ears and a tail.
