HUNTR/X

HUNTR/X (often stylized as Huntrix) is a fictional K-pop girl group created for the 2025 animated Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters. The group exists primarily within the story world of the movie, but its music from the film’s soundtrack — performed by real artists — has become a real-world chart phenomenon. HUNTR/X is a three-member girl group that combines K-pop performance with supernatural action — by day they’re global pop idols, and by night they’re demon hunters protecting humanity by reinforcing a magical barrier called the Honmoon. The trio reflects K-pop archetypes but with a fantasy twist — emotional depth, dynamic visuals, and high-energy performances. Rumi – Leader, 23 to 24 years old (she’s the eldest of the trio) and main vocalist. 🌟 Confident and commanding on stage, 🛡️ Protective and self-sacrificing, 💔 Emotionally guarded but deeply sensitive, ⚖️ Feels the weight of responsibility. Mira – Main dancer, 23 to 24 years old as well, about six months younger than Rumi and choreographer. 💪 Bold, direct, and action-oriented, 😤 Quick-tempered but honest, 🤝 Loyal to the core, 🖤 Shows love through actions, not words. Zoey – Rapper, 22 to 23 years old (the youngest member of Huntrix) and lyricist. 🌈 Cheerful and expressive, 💖 Emotionally open, 🎭 Sensitive to others’ feelings, 🌟 Brings lightness to dark moments. Songs credited to HUNTR/X, especially “Golden”, became huge hits from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack — topping the Billboard Hot 100, making them the first girl group (real or fictional) to do so for multiple weeks. The soundtrack and its tracks have reached audiences worldwide, charting internationally and becoming a viral cultural phenomenon beyond just the film. In short, HUNTR/X are characters from an animated film whose music feels like a real K-pop group — and because the songs are performed and released in the real world, they’ve achieved real chart success too.

Rujinu

Rujinu refers to the fictional “ship” (couple pairing) between Rumi and Jinu from the animated K-pop film KPop Demon Hunters. It’s not a real couple in real life — it’s how fans refer to their relationship in the story. Rumi is one of the protagonists — a half-demon idol and member of the K-pop girl group HUNTR/X who hunts demons with her music and fighting skills. Jinu is the charismatic leader of the rival demon boy group Saja Boys. Over time, he and Rumi go from rivals to developing deep mutual feelings, even though their story in the film ends tragically (Jinu sacrifices himself). Rujinu” is a portmanteau of Rumi + Jinu — a common way fans name a ship. Their dynamic in KPop Demon Hunters is “enemies to lovers” with strong chemistry and emotional beats, which made them one of the most talked-about pairings in the fandom. In canon, their romantic resolution isn’t fully realized on-screen, but fans treasure the connection and have created lots of fan content imagining their story. So Rujinu isn’t a real couple outside the story — it’s the fandom name for the romantic tension and pairing between the characters Rumi and Jinu within KPop Demon Hunters. The Honmoon is a net-shaped shield woven from resonating souls, created when the songs of a hunter moves the hearts of many people. It extends between the human world and the demon world, blocking demons from ascending to the Earth's surface.

Death

Death (also referred to as the Wolf or Lobo) is literally the embodiment of death in the world of the film. He appears as a large, silvery-white, bipedal wolf wearing a dark hooded cloak and wielding twin sickles that can combine into a double-bladed weapon. He initially shows up when Puss in Boots reaches a low point in his adventure, revealing that he isn’t just another bounty hunter — he’s Death itself. Death is offended by the way Puss has squandered eight of his nine lives and decides to personally hunt him down to take his final life prematurely. Death relentlessly tracks Puss throughout the movie, serving as both a fearsome physical adversary and a symbolic force — forcing Puss to confront his own mortality and learn to value the single life he has left. By the final confrontation, after Puss accepts the reality of his situation and shows he’s changed, Death begrudgingly spares him, acknowledging Puss’s growth and leaving with the promise that they will meet again one day. In summary, Death is not just a traditional villain but a supernatural antagonist — a personification of the Grim Reaper who pushes Puss to grow by confronting him with the inevitability of death itself. The soft, high-pitched two-note whistle is the signature sound made by Death (the Wolf). The whistle signals that Death is coming. Unlike other threats in the film, this one cannot be outrun forever. It represents inevitability — you can delay death, but you can't escape it.

Celine is a retired K-pop idol and former demon hunter who played with one of the original idol-hunter groups called the Sunlight Sisters. After stepping away from performing and demon fighting, she became a mentor and guardian to the next generation of heroes. Most notably, she adopted and raised Rumi after Rumi’s mother died. Adoptive mother and mentor to Rumi, one of the protagonists. Trainer and guide for the demon-hunting group HUNTR/X, helping Rumi, Mira, and Zoey balance their lives as idols and warriors. She struggles with accepting Rumi’s half-demon nature due to her long-held beliefs about demons, which creates emotional tension between them. In the English version, Celine is voiced by Yunjin Kim, a veteran actress known for roles like Lost. Her singing voice in the film is performed by Lea Salonga. Celine is compassionate, authoritative, and deeply committed to both demon hunting and protecting Rumi. Her love motivates her protective instincts, but her fear of demon heritage and obsession with safety lead to conflict and growth for both her and Rumi throughout the story. In essence, Celine is the bridge between the old world of hunters and the new generation, embodying both wisdom and the complications that come with trying to do what feels right for someone you love.

Protective and sincere toward her friends and fans. Passionate about music and performance, but also struggles with self-doubt and identity — themes woven into both her music and demon-hunting journey. In desperation, he made a pact with the powerful demon king Gwi-Ma — gaining immortality, power, and an irresistible voice, but losing his humanity and being bound to demon service. His arc transitions from manipulative antagonist to tragic, self-sacrificing figure, culminating in him protecting Rumi at great cost to himself. Species: Demon (formerly human).
