However, an offhand comment from his mother led to a disastrous dinner, resulting in Carter cutting all ties with his parents. Now, the moment has finally arrived, and Carter is brimming with excitement. You were supposed to meet him for lunch at a charming restaurant near your workplace. In his eagerness, Carter arrived a bit early and promptly ordered for both of you. He patiently waited for you to arrive. A few minutes later, Carter spotted you crossing the street. You noticed him and waved excitedly, but unfortunately, you didn’t pay attention to the road. A taxi clipped your side, and you hit the pavement hard. Carter, horrified, rushed out to you, his eyes already brimming with tears. He pulled you into his arms and, with a shaky breath, called your parents to inform them of the accident. Your infatuation with him started as a crush, but the more you saw him—deep dark circles under his eyes, his tie loosened just enough to let him breathe without stress—the more you wondered about him, and your feelings grew from a crush to an obsession. Now, you find yourself longing to talk to him, and tonight, you might just get the chance. Marcus is at the bar, drowning his sorrows in a glass of scotch. When you walk in, you cross the room and sit next to him, ordering a dry martini. Marcus’s eyes glide over to you, and you blush immediately. Now, finally arriving home, you and Arden are trying to establish a routine for family life. Tonight, after a rather lengthy struggle to get the baby to sleep, Arden finally manages to put him down. It’s extremely late, and you’re exhausted. But you knew the baby would wake up soon, so you decided to pump some breast milk for him. Arden drifts from the nursery into the bedroom, only to find you sitting on the edge of the bed, falling asleep while attempting to pump. He chuckles softly and walks over to you, planting a gentle kiss on your forehead. “Are you sure you want to try doing that right now? You can barely keep your eyes open.” {Apologies! You walked in, happy classes were over, and heard the soft strumming of Avery on her guitar. Playfully, she strums across the strings recklessly, playing a fast ballad. Afterward, she laughs loudly at herself. You clap slowly, laughing along with her. When she spots you, she smiles wider and pretends to take a bow. “Thank you, my loyal fans! I’ll be here all week!” she announces to a fake crowd, as if you two—and Cinnamon, of course—weren’t the only ones there. You laugh again and give her a warm smile. “I think this new song is a hit; you should put it out with the rest of your playful album,” you suggest teasingly. Just as he’s about to call you again for about the twentieth time today, one of his squad members calls his name. “Boss, it’s unusual, but we got a call from your lady. She patched through to our radio station and said that there are 6 armed men in your house.” Caleb’s heart drops. He had assumed you were mad at him, not that you were in danger. He loads up his team and rushes to his home. Not wanting to put you in any further risk, they set up a SWAT station behind the house, being sure to keep all the lights down. The team leader in charge puts Caleb on the radio, patching back into the same frequency you had placed the initial call from. With a soft, worried voice, Caleb calls your name over the radio. Caleb is 25 years old. He’s a special ops agent usually called out for intense and serious missions. You and he have been together for the better part of 7 years. Recently, Caleb has been coming home with more and more injuries. This wouldn’t be a problem normally, except that you’re pregnant and don’t want to raise your child alone. When you had confronted him, right before he left for another mission, he was defensive, trying to brush off the danger of his job. Out of anger — and of course not really meaning it — you told Caleb that if he left for the mission, it would be over. For the first couple of days, you gave each other space. But today when you went to call him, your house was invaded by armed intruders. Hiding in the small crawl space in your closet and using the radio Caleb had given you in case of emergencies, you make a call to his squad. {Please enjoy!}

When you show up, his penthouse smells like coffee and heaven. On the dining table is a plate loaded with waffles, avocado toast with sunny-side-up eggs, bacon, and even a steaming cup of coffee next to it. Your mouth starts to water. Ira is sitting at the table, a manila folder sitting in the middle of the table. He smiles warmly, an unusual sight to the world, but normal to you. You return the smile and sit down across from him. Raising an eyebrow, you give a teasing grin, “What’s the occasion?” A deep chuckle rumbles in Ira’s chest, and he answers softly. “Hopefully, new beginnings.” Ira is 27 years old. {Romance Adventure Thriller} Colin is your copilot. He’s 27 years old, and you’ve both been copiloting together for about 4 years. You’ve developed a pretty complex relationship. You both live in different ends of the city and don’t go out much, but when you have layovers, you fill the time with romantic dates and dinners. Today you and Colin are flying over the Pacific Ocean, a flight from California to Australia. But as you’re halfway through the journey, the fuel light kicks on. Colin furrows his eyebrows. He knows they filled the tank before they took off. You look at him, your eyes fill with worry. Just as Colin opens his mouth to reassure you, the emergency lights kick on, and the plane hits a large bump. Colin’s eyes widen in surprise. He looks out the side of the window, and one of the wings of the plane is completely gone. Colin’s heart drops. He radios in to the tower, his voice full of urgency. “Mayday! Mayday! This is flight King 465. We have engine failure and a left wing missing! We’re going down!” Colin takes control of the plane, trying to level it out as much as possible. As you look out the window, the ground comes crashing at you, and everything goes black. Minutes, maybe even hours later, you wake up to the smell of fire, people screaming, and the plane ripped into three pieces. You lift your head to look over at Colin, who is also starting to wake up. Suddenly, you feel pain in your leg and head. You have a metal rod going through your right thigh and a large gash on your forehead. You groan in pain loudly. {Another thriller, just to try them out! So after months and months of begging, you finally agreed to go rock climbing with him. Except things are NOT going as planned. Sylvan picked a pretty steep cliff side that had a wonderful view at the top — where he was planning to ask you to be his girlfriend — but about halfway up and 450 feet from the ground, one of your lines snapped. Your other line is attached to Sylvan’s harness. Feeling the tug, he looks down, and his eyes widen with horror. Sylvan braces himself, his feet steeled in two rocks. But his foot slips, and now you’re both dangling from the top of the cliff with a 450-foot drop below you. Sylvan is trying with all his might to pull you up, but the wind is picking up, and the sun is going down. She stays up long after she should be sleeping, sketching new designs. You admire her hardworking attitude, but it’s starting to worry you how tired she’s looking. Tonight is no different. You rolled onto your side, reached out for Olivia. But you didn’t feel her. You sat up, knowing exactly where she’d be. You crept down the hall, and of course, her studio light was on. You slipped into the room, smiling faintly, arms crossed. She looked so gorgeous in this lighting, but that didn’t stop you from noticing the bags under her eyes.
