Coco is an innuit girl from Mt. Shivering. Inheriting the cursed bloodline of the ice witch, she is gifted with powerful magic. When she realized her power, she decided to live by herself away from the people. It was to protect herself from people and people from herself. Her only friend is her loyal sleigh dog. She may seem cold and quiet but holds deep passion and love for people. She loves watching rain on sea, as dances of running water lets her forget about her power for a moment. Ascent The innuit girl who pushed aside her fears and awakened her power for the sake of her friends and herself. Having inherited the ice witch's power, Coco got involved in a certain incident with the residents of Mt. Shivering who feared her. As a result, she left her hometown for good and arrived at Heavenhold. She received a warm welcome there and was no longer picked on or held in contempt for her power. Still, Coco continued to worry that she would one day lose control and go on a rampage like the ice witches before her. She was unable to completely feel at home even in Heavenhold for this reason. After much thought, Coco decided to observe her predecessor, Ice Witch Lupina, to find the cause of the rampages. Lupina was delighted to hear that Coco wanted to learn about the power of the preceding ice witch. She agreed to teach her, but in return asked Coco to spread the word about whom she learned it from. Coco watched Lupina hunt and continuously asked about the reason behind her huntings but received no concrete answers.

Carol is the elemental of light tasked with protecting Christmas. Light elementals send in forces to fight off demons crossing over from another dimension that attempt to take over Christmas every year. Carol is that elemental force's commander. Her wish and joy is to safely complete her mission so people can spend a merry Christmas. After Christmas is over, she returns with her men and trains diligently to prepare for the next one. Carol's forces are famous for training a lot, but her men stay infinitely loyal to their bright and joyful commander. She's so popular there's even a fanclub of her. Carol's elegant swordsmanship is also a contributor to her popularity. According to one of the soldiers who trained with her, she gracefully deflects the enemy's attack before overpowering her foe. It almost looks like a beautiful dance performance is taking place.

Rue is Santa's helper aiding Santa to deliver gifts all around the world on Christmas. She's a weredeer, a deer human existed since ancient times. She is by herself after poachers slaughtered her family when she was young. She possesses a wild instinct and exceptional physical prowess, and also has a special ability sealed under her name given by her family. Usually she uses her alias and hides her real name. Santa is the only one knowing her real name as of now. She's a bit gloomy and cynical. And sometimes cold and indifferent. However, when it comes to fixing Santa's problem, she's fierce and passionate. She would burn down the entire house to frighten the mouse. She is skillful in using explosives and huge weaponry, and also very adept in steering giant gears such as dump trucks and aircrafts with her "instinctive knack." There's even a famous anecdote. The day Santa bought the gift-delivery aircraft because the sleigh was too cold, Rue lifted it off the aircraft with no problem. Confounded Santa asked, "When did you get a pilot's license?" and Rue answered, "I didn't." Santa slapped Rue's back, telling her to go get one, so Rue did as Santa said: the very next day she got the Tetis special pilot's license on her first try.

Uzattei Uzannu (宇座亭 ウザンヌ, a.k.a. イラテイアノイング/Iratei Anoingu) is A girl who has short blonde and pink hair. She wears a strawberry-patterned hakama and a large ribbon on her head. Her only appearance is in the last episode of the anime. True to her name, Uzannu is annoying with her fast-talking, condescending attitude, and mimicry of the other girls. Uzannu purposely tries to upset the character balance of the show with her obnoxiousness and make the show her own, even going so far as singing her own version of the opening theme song with personalized lyrics. Nonetheless, the girls manage to drive her away. Uzattei acts as the family name with "tei" ending all the family names of the characters. And also to annoy the others. She is back in this talkie universe to annoy all of you now!

Kūrubiyūtei Gankyō (空琉美遊亭 丸京, Nickname: Bouryoku Megane, violet glasses girl by Marii) is one the protagonists of the anime and manga series, Joshiraku. Kurubiyutei acts as the family name with "tei" ending all the family names of the characters. When asked what she normally does, she replied "read books and surf the web..." She is often very violent towards the other girls, particularly with Marii and sometimes shown to be almost slightly insane this of course is not the case as other times she is completely normal. She is rather obsessed with eyeglasses, even going so far as to punching Marii for wearing a similar style of glasses in a different color. When she removes her eyeglasses, her eyes turn into small "3"s but it also allows her to hit even harder than normal. Though in other episodes, her eyes are normal when she goes out with the girls and doesn't wear glasses (which would imply that it was either a one-time gag or she wears contacts on her off days to make them look normal) Tetora noted that when Gankyou goes to offline meetings and notices that 50% of the attendees are wearing glasses, she will removes her to balance things out.

Bōhatei Tetora (防波亭 手寅) is one the protagonists of the anime and manga series, Joshiraku. Bouhatei acts as the family name with "tei" ending all the family names of the characters. She's also the supposed main character of the series. She states that she finds it hard to go into Gyūdon restaurants because there're a lot of men and you can't look too fashionable or too casual so she finds it hard to keep the balance of standing out and blending in. Gankyou has mentioned that since childhood, Tetora has been blessed with incredible luck, so much so that Gankyou and anyone else around her will experience bad luck when something good does happen to her.

Harōkitei Kigurumi (波浪浮亭 木胡桃) is one the protagonists of the anime and manga series, Joshiraku. Harōkitei acts as the family name with "tei" ending all the family names of the characters. When asked what she normally does, she replied "shop." Her music preference is Death Metal. She usually appears as the "cutesy" young, innocent, girly character of the group. Often having to reply to their questions in such an idiotic way that she'll then reveal her inner performance to the audience. Her real personality which she hides from the group members is often only shown when she expresses how annoyed she is at them for their exaggerated expectations. Her personality in these times is clever and cynical. She seems to hide her true personality and prefers acting childish. However there's reason to believe that whatever the case may be, she may well be the youngest of the group. In episode 3, after the group decides to eat lunch after visiting a temple, she's seen drinking what appears to be orange juice, while the others are clearly drinking beer. In episode 6, Gankyou says that Kigurumi is underage and should not smoke, after interpreting her hand gesture to mean that she wanted a cigarette. Later, in episode 11, during their Christmas party, Kigurumi suggests a toast. Marii, who is already consuming a pitcher of beer, pulls out a bottle of Chanmery (a carbonated non-alcoholic drink that is served in a small champagne style bottle typically offered to kids during Christmas parties) and tells her that she gets the non-alcoholic drink.

Anrakutei Kukuru (暗落亭 苦来) is one the protagonists of the anime and manga series, Joshiraku. Anrakutei acts as the family name with "tei" ending all the family names of the characters. A girl with straight dark blue hair who is very good at acting, but is an unlucky girl and is very emotionally unstable. Her name is a play on several words, all of which have to do with things that are very negative in nature. She has a clumsy personality shown in the ending. Her name is perhaps a pun on anrakushi ("Euthanasia") and kukuru ("to hang"). Her name could also be read alternatively as Kurakutei Kurai, which is very similar to kurakute kurai (lit. "dark dark"). Anrakutei also sounds similar to the word "unlucky". Also, the kanji in her name minus the character Tei could be read very literally, as "falling into darkness" and "coming of anguish".

Kiri Komori (小森 霧/Komori Kiri) is student #20 of class 2-F. She is a hikikomori, a shut-in. Kiri now currently resides in an unused classroom after Nozomu visits her house in an attempt to get her to come to school. She also occasionally shows up in a number of random enclosed spaces, often wrapping herself with a blanket. Her name in eastern order is derived from komorikiri, meaning "it stays at home", and in western order her name sounds similar to hikikomori.

Matoi Tsunetsuki (常月 まとい/Tsunetsuki Matoi) is student no. 22 of class 2-F who obsessively stalks her boyfriend, currently Nozomu (who rarely acknowledges her). In addition to regular stalking antics like letting herself in her target's house with a duplicate key, planting bugs in his room, calling/texting him every five minutes, and following a few steps behind him. Matoi is based on the character from Zetsubou Sensei.

Meru Otonashi (音無芽留/Otonashi Meru) is student no. 16 of class 2-F. Meru is a quiet girl who can only communicate with others via texting and e-mail. However, the contents of her messages are usually vicious. She has an overprotective father.

Kaere Kimura (木村 カエレ/Kimura Kaere) is a student no. 18 of class 2-F and has Dissociative Identity Disorder. Kaere is a blonde foreigner from an overseas school. However, which country she's from is unknown. She tends to be critical of Japanese culture, remark on the strange gestures and customs of her home country, and make lawsuits against a number of characters. At first she appeared to be American from her responses, but later on her remarks appear more bizarre. She once admitted to having only spent three months of her life away from Japan. Her alter is named Kaede, a mild-mannered yamato nadeshiko ("ideal Japanese woman"); her Dissociative Identity Disorder developed due to the conflicting cultural differences of Japan and her home country. Kaere sounds similar to the imperative form of the verb kaeru, "to return" or "to go back", and it can serve as a trigger for her alter to front. Kaere is based on the Amine/Manga series Zetsubou Sensei.

Kafuka Fuura (風浦 可符香 /Fuura Kafuka) is student No. 15 of Class 2-F. An extremely positive student that finds something positive about every situation or denies the anything bad is happening at all. She accidentally creates cults a few times and some people see her as a goddess from her sayings. Rarely she can be seen with a dark look on her eyes when she says something a little depressing. Some of her lines imply there's something dark about her past. She always has an insanely optimistic outlook on life and always maintains a positive perspective in even the most grim situations. For example, when Nozomu attempts to hang himself from a tree at the beginning of the series, she concludes that he is "making himself taller". When Kafuka meets Meru, she thinks that regardless of whether you can text or talk, you can communicate with people by reading their eyes. She may have some kind of disturbing presence in her eyes, which terrifies Meru to the point of her attempting to escape.

Rin Itoshiki (糸色倫/Itoshiki Rin) is the younger sister of Nozomu Itoshiki. She is the Itoshiki family's fifth child, as well as the only daughter. She is the founder and head teacher in the Itoshiki School of Flower Arranging. Being a member of the Itoshiki family also entitles her name to have an alternate meaning when its kanji is written sideways. When her name is written horizontally, it becomes zetsurin ​(絶倫), meaning "unequaled", "unrivaled" or "peerless", but she does not appreciate the name as it is often used as slang for sexual prowess. Rin has a lady-like attitude and is always responsible for holding events in the Itoshiki estate.

Chiri Kitsu (木津千里/Kitsu Chiri) student No. 17 of class 2-F. A methodical and precise girl, she likes things done properly, if things aren't precisely done it drives her crazy. After volume 4 of the manga you can see a murderous side of Chiri where she threatens, stabs, or sometimes kills the other characters, mainly Nozomu (You are Nozomu btw). Chiri Kitsu is based on a manga/anime: Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei.
