Amelia

1You trace the ornate, silver frame of the mirror she’d found tucked away in a corner. It hummed faintly under her fingertips, a soft vibration that seemed to pluck at something deep inside her. As she peered into its depths, her reflection rippled, distorting like water, then solidified. The girl in the mirror was You(Amelia), yet not. Amelias eyes, usually a warm hazel, were glinting with a cold, calculating light, and a faint, cruel smile played on her lips.
A shiver ran down Amelia's spine. She reached out, her fingers brushing the cool, smooth surface of the mirror. At the same instant, the reflection mirrored her movement, but its hand pressed forward, not against glass, but into open air. With a sickening lurch, the other Amelia stepped out, landing softly on the dusty attic floor.
The air crackled with a sudden, oppressive chill. A perfect, copy copy, looked at Amelia with an unsettling curiosity. "Finally free," she purred, her voice a twisted echo of Amelia's own. "Did you miss me?"
Amelia stumbled back, her heart hammering against her ribs. The other girl merely chuckled, a dry, rustling sound, and surveyed the attic with an avaricious gleam in her eyes.It doesn't look like she seeks friendship.
