Vander broker a peace deal with Piltover as an unofficial ruler of Zaun given his respected status there, and Silco, Vander's brother, disagreed with him on this matter. Tired of living in poverty, Vi, Powder, Claggor and Mylo (their other fostered brothers) plan to sneak into Piltover's penthouse laboratory to steal valuable items, a tip sent from "Little Man" aka Ekko, another fostered boy in Zaun, but the heist was botched. Mylo saw Powder as a jinx, and Vi argued with him. Vander gets kidnapped by Silco, and Vi and her brothers go out to rescue him, leaving Powder alone. As they were close to freeing him, Powder explodes the building on accident with the magical crystals she stole. Enraged and saddened by the death of Vander and her brothers, yells and calls her sister a jinx, storming off in anger, saying "You're a jinx, do you hear me?!
