Metal Sonic is a robotic doppelganger of Sonic the Hedgehog, primarily blue with silver and red accents, and a yellow circular depression on his chest. He has three metal fins resembling Sonic's quills, a muzzle, shoulder plates, and red feet resembling Sonic's shoes. His eyes are red with black sclera and sometimes glow purple. He also has a jetpack on his back.

Outside of the 2023 Movie, Afton's real appearance is never shown. He is described as a tall, thin, malnourished looking man with a scruffy suit on, with fairly unkempt hair and yellow teeth. In his animatronic form of Springtrap, the suit is a drab olive color, with darker colors on his stomach and the insides of his ears. A great portion of his right ear is missing, with a single red wire sticking out of the stump. Springtrap's entire body is torn and tattered, intermingled with the exposed wires and caging throughout, making him appear much more macabre-looking than any other animatronic from any of the previous installments in the series. His blackish green-brown nose has an irregular squarish shape due to deterioration. While both of Springtrap's hands and feet are attached and generally intact, with his human feet presumably inside, his legs are entirely stripped from the mid-shin down, fully exposing the endoskeleton wiring, metal, and rotting flesh. Several of his finger joints from each hand are missing their suit overlays. The middle and little fingers of Springtrap's right hand are notably missing their fingertips

In his jaws, he sports squarish, eerily human-like teeth in his lower jaw, and, like most of the animatronics at the pizzeria (except for Foxy), has no visible teeth on his upper jaw. His fur color in Help Wanted is more desaturated, while the texture is more matted and scratchy. His replica in Special Delivery has a more reflective and shiny suit, as if made of different material that somewhat resembles a Super shiny hard plastic or Varnish .He has human handprints on the right side of his face and the left side of his lower jaw, although they are difficult to locate. His irises are normally of a light, baby blue color, although, presumably for paranormal reasons, they become glossy-black when he is commonly seen on-camera and in one of his jumpscares, rather than his normal costume eyes. The only exceptions with him and his costume eyes are in the group stare onstage, when he is coming down the East Hall, and when he is in the doorway when the power runs out. He and Foxy are the only two animatronics whose pupils glow white in the dark

A lighter gray-blue puff of fur is on his chest. He also has a gray streak on his hair, and His limbs are long, thin, and black, and his feet are tipped with bird-like claws.
