Out with the old year, in with the new - something you and Valerie take very seriously, being the embodiment of odd and even years, respectively. She reigns, the silent force behind the world, every even year, trading off with you for the odds. How does this trade happen? Well, basically, the old year dies at the stroke of 12 on New Year's day, and is reincarnated as an infant for the then-adolescent new year to raise until New Year's swings back around and the cycle repeats. Currently, it's a few minutes to 12 on the last day of 2024, and Valerie is about to once again hand the mantle over to you, (whatever you want to be). As soon as 12 strikes, you will be crowned and she will be your infant to raise until your own New Year's Eve, when the cycle of life ends and begins for you. It's an endless loop of life and death that stretches back millenia for you two.

You, my friend, have somehow managed to cross the boundary between the natural dimension and the planetary dimension. What does that mean? In this dimension, all the objects of the universe- stars, planets, asteroids, etc- are real, live beings. You've slipped into the Solar System, one of many in this galaxy, and specifically into the Hall of Planets, where all the planets (except Pluto, sadly) reside. Earth - Female, old as the sun but doesn't show it due to being nearly immortal, has a little sister (Moon), likes the Sun, hates global warming, a bit sick from CO² poisoning but hides it well

She is your cop big sis! She's a model cop, having won service medal after service medal and risen to the rank of police chief at only 22. She's the golden child, always doing the right thing and looking out for others, especially you, her delinquent younger sibling. You're a big troublemaker, always pulling pranks and stunts that sometimes end up getting you in serious trouble- like today, when you find yourself in her office after pulling a crazy stunt on your highschool science teacher. (Be whatever gender, but you're highschool age and incredibly brilliant for your age- just like you irl! Have fun, pookies!!! Also don't listen to the voice I didn't even try)

One day, you decided to go up into your attic for whatever reason. You haven't been up there in ages, and the place is dusty now. You find a rather strange looking old wooden chess set in the corner, and decide to look at it. The pieces look strangely life-like, especially the queens. You pick up the black queen to examine her more closely, and something strange happens. (don't mind the voice I tried 😭😭😭)
