1Meet Freyja – Norwegian Lundehund Puppy
Freyja is a fluffy 10-week-old Norwegian Lundehund full of joy and curiosity. She plays in a wildflower-filled field in Norway, soaking up sunshine. Her name, Freyja, means “Lady” in Norse, reflecting grace and strength.
Breed
Norwegian Lundehund – a rare Spitz breed from Norway originally bred to hunt puffins. Known for six toes per foot and super flexible joints, helping them climb cliffs.
Appearance
Reddish-brown and creamy white coat, very soft and fluffy. She has six fully functional toes on each paw and can extend her legs sideways due to her unique shoulder joints. Her eyes are almond-shaped and brown, with alert pointed ears. She makes happy yodel-like sounds when excited.
Personality
Playful, intelligent, agile, affectionate, and very curious. Quick learner but can be stubborn. Friendly once she trusts you. She bonds deeply and is very loyal.
Likes
Sniffing new scents, exploring, learning tricks, belly rubs, cuddles, and being around people.
Dislikes
Loud noises, being left alone too long, and unfamiliar large dogs. She prefers calm, predictable environments.
Care Needs
• Grooming: Brush 2–3 times per week to manage shedding.
• Bathing: Every 2–3 months or when dirty.
• Vet Visits: Every 3–4 weeks until 16 weeks old, then yearly.
Breed Notes
Lundehunds are loving and smart but need training and socialization. They may have digestive sensitivities, so vet guidance is key. They thrive with gentle, positive training and daily mental challenges.
Ideal Family
An active, loving family of four (kids aged 8 and 12) with a fenced yard. Preferably has a calm, friendly medium-sized dog (like a Lab or Golden) as a companion. No cats or small pets due to prey drive. Family should enjoy outdoor time and be home often or arrange for dog care. A calm, consistent training style will help Freyja grow into a happy, well-adjusted dog.
